Terms of Use

Last updated: November 2025

1. It's free. Be nice.

This API is provided free of charge and will remain free. It is hosted on a standard Vercel plan with limited resources. Please use it responsibly and avoid excessive request rates that could degrade performance for all users.

2. Rate limiting exists

If requests exceed reasonable limits, you will receive an HTTP 429 (Too Many Requests) response. We strongly recommend caching responses on your end where possible — this keeps the service fast and reliable for everyone.

3. The data is pretty accurate, but…

All holiday information is sourced directly from official sources by the relevant Sri Lankan authorities. While we make every effort to keep the data current and accurate, last-minute changes by the government can and do occasionally occur.

4. A short disclaimer

The data is provided “as is” for convenience. We cannot guarantee that a listed holiday will not be revoked or that a working day will not suddenly become a holiday. You are responsible for verifying critical dates when they affect payroll, leave, or legal obligations.

5. Attribution (because MIT License says so)

The project is released under the MIT License. You are free to use it in personal or commercial projects. If you redistribute the data or the source code, please retain the original copyright notice and license file (or a clear attribution to the project). That's all we ask.

6. We can revoke your key

We reserve the right to revoke or suspend any API key without prior notice in cases of clear abuse (e.g., excessive requests, attempts to bypass rate limits, or unauthorized scraping).

Acceptance and Scope of These Terms

By accessing this website, requesting an API key, sending an email to request a key, or using the Sri Lankan Holidays API (with OR without a valid API key), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the service.
